Dry Ridge Historical Museum:

Collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Weaverville, Reems Creek and Flat Creek townships. In a new location in Weaverville.

Mission

The Dry Ridge Historical Museum presents an authentic view of the rich cultural history of various periods of life, to diverse audiences — with special emphasis on collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Weaverville, Reems Creek and Flat Creek townships — through the preservation and interpretation of historic objects, buildings and landscapes.

About the Museum

Our new location opened its doors on Sept 25th, 2021 at the new Community Center located above Lake Louise, at 60 Lakeshore Drive. The museum gallery has five vignettes designed to show visitors examples of life in this area utilizing artifacts and educational panels. The sixth vignette presents a hands-on display for children. Additionally six wormy chestnut showcases created by master craftsman Jim Proffitt line the hallway of the Community Center. They contain revolving collections from both local sources and the museum collection.

Maverick’s Grill will be joining again this season selling locally sourced breakfast and lunch. There is no fee to shop the event. Bathrooms are available on site and leashed pets are always welcomed. We are actively accepting vendors. Set up is only $20 for the day. Please contact us at the shop for more information. Can’t wait to see you there!

Well, its the end of the day on Wednesday, and for some reason Mike and I took the day to finish up what we started yesterday..moving and rearranging many of the big displays of glass around the shop. We also planned some fun demos for the weekend, and got confirmation that Cakes by Jane in Weaverville will be doing a cake sampling during the day Saturday…YUM!

Had a nice visit from two of our favorite customers, the Schwartzes, who bought a pretty bowl to send to a friend in Colorado for a housewarming…and Mike worked in the studio garden, planting more beans and peas and lots of sunflowers…a beautiful day in “the country” at the end of Main St in Weaverville..(:
