Reems Creek Pottery

Rachel Smith is the founding member of Reems Creek Pottery, a collective working pottery studio and gallery located near downtown Weaverville in the Reems Creek Valley. She is one of the several potters that make functional and decorative work in a variety of styles. The studio pottery features functional pieces, from mugs, to bowls, to vases, and plates along with decorative sculptural pieces and everyday ornaments. The pottery features a lot of surface designs from textures, to carvings, to silk screens, to decals, to sgraffito to layered glazes. The studio also offers private throwing and hand building lessons, as well as pottery workshops for small groups. Currently the potters are Rachel Smith (Pottery by Rachel), Eirene Peterson and Travis Burnette (IyaBlu Pottery), Amelia Weber (LogJam Pottery) and Elaine Karpen (Murder Mittens Pottery).
The studio was started in 2015 in order to bring a community studio to Weaverville, along with the teaching space. Reems Creek Pottery also hosts pop-up craft markets a couple times a year, which feature many Weaverville artists. And you will find Reems Creek Pottery during Weaverville Art Safari in April and November hosting visiting artists alongside their pottery.
